Travel alerts and recent disruption
- June 2026 More than 230 flights were delayed and seven cancelled at the start of the summer season as NATS reduced airspace flow rates during thunderstorms across the UK, hitting Scottish airspace and Edinburgh. (source)

Parking, drop-off and fare changes
- 18 May 2026 Edinburgh Airport raised its terminal drop-off / pick-up charge from £6 to £8.50 for up to 10 minutes, and removed the previous 50% electric-vehicle discount. Bosses blamed a 142% rise in business rates that added roughly £8m to annual operating costs. The £8.50 fee puts Edinburgh joint second-highest in the UK (level with Bristol, behind Gatwick and Stansted). A free option remains: up to 30 minutes in the long-stay car park. (source)

Security rule changes
- Late January 2026 Edinburgh lifted the 100ml liquids limit after installing and gaining approval for next-generation CT scanners. Passengers may now carry containers up to 2 litres, with no separate clear bag required, and can leave liquids and most electronics in their bags.
